My Past Companies and Self Employed Work History

Be-Known Media / jbellendir.com

 Owner / IT Consultant
11/2002 - 11/2007
* The DBA of Be-Known Media based out of California was retired in Nov of 2007.

This was my IT consultancy and design company. I have been a contract worker and consultant for several clients in the areas of IT service and support, web design, network implementation / troubleshooting, telephony implementation and solutions, and server building/administration. I operated under the name of Beknown Media, which is a sole proprietorship based out of California. I closed out this name in November of 2007 seeing that I was living in Japan at the time and I no longer supported clients in the US or needed to have the business registered.

This company started in 2001 when I provided an in-home computer technician service, which was mostly advertised by word of mouth amongst my customers. The work I did was always outside and unrelated to my employer that I was currently working for during the years of operation. A list of some sample work I performed are: data recovery, system repair and recovery, network setup and configurations, internet line setup, installation of software and new peripherals, as well as provided private tutor lessons on how to use computer software and hardware.

I later focused my consulting on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) as well as website design and company marketing on the web. Some additional specialty jobs I completed were security testing and security implementations. I am always interested in doing consulting work on a contract basis in the areas of web design, database planning and implementation, software troubleshooting and OS cleanup/repair, building of customized computers (such as Linux systems, Window's server systems), Search Engine Optimization/Marketing, security implementations and testing, and networking your office's computer systems.

I have lived and worked in Japan for 3 years and have done several of the above mentioned tasks for clients which have been referred to by other happy and satisfied clients. I offer these services to both the Japanese and English communities. If you would like to request me for one of the above mentioned jobs or have a more specific task you want done, please don't hesitate to contact me at with my contact form. I can also provide examples of my previous work upon request. I do consultant work with small to large scale businesses as well as individual end-users, so please don't hesitate to contact me with inquiries. Depending on the request and whether or not there would be a conflict of interest between me and my employer some jobs can be taken on.

Web Hosting Company

 Co-Owner / Co-Founder
2002

A college friend and I started a hosting company while attending college. We had a server lying around that was given to us so we decided to go ahead and set it up for fun. We successfully setup a Linux web server and web site to sell our hosting plans. We also took advantage of sales venues such as local newspapers and online websites such as eBay. The company did well and we ended up selling it after 7 months of starting this small side project. One of our primary online competitors selling on eBay with similar hosting plans decided to buy us out and we sold him the server and all clients currently contracted through our hosting service. This was a great experience and we learned a lot. We simply didn't want to continue running with the company as we had other things to study and different directions we wished to go.

Pacific Bell Phone Company

 Telecommunications Contractor
Summer 2000

During the summer of 2000, Northern California was horribly behind in DSL installs for companies and home owners in the entire San Francisco, San Jose, and Alameda Areas of Northern California. I was asked to move up north for the summer and assist with a 5 men team of technicians to install and wire DSL lines to the local phone company's clients on the DSL waiting lists. There were waiting lists as long as 4-5 months. The job mainly consisted of installation of MPOE boxes or modification of MPOE boxes at the entrance of the customer's home. If the customer did not wish to have this type of install and had only one phone line, a split would be installed with an inline filter.

Wireframe Digital Studios

Co-Owner / Co-Founder
01/20/1999 - 01/01/2000

I started designing websites for small to medium sized companies and founded WireFrame Digital Studios with my business partner Michael Bach. This company started when both of us were seniors in high school and turned Michael's parent's garage into a 2 room office with two PCs, a shared internet line, and a direct phone line. That's all we had and that's all we needed. We loved the excitement of building and designing websites for people and decided to turn it into a business. Our clientele consisted of several companies belonging to industries, such as medical, race/import cars, real estate, and private small retail businesses. A few companies we provided our services for were Newport Superior Surgery, Inc., Vinyl Optics, and Premier Autoworks. We specialized in creating multimedia-rich interactive websites using Flash, which at the time was fairly new and beginning to be widely used amongst web sites on the internet. I later, decided to invest my time in other opportunities and left the company. Michael, later teamed up with another individual that had graduated from CSUF with a MBA and the company became known as Envirium Interactive. Envirium Interactive was established in Janurary 2000 and Michael later left in December 2001.
