If you have multiple iOS devices, you may run into a problem of transferring apps to other devices and keeping the saved data in that game or application. A good example of this is an app called My Japanese Coach, which I use from time to time. Well, I sure as heck don’t want to start at lesson 1 again when I download the app to a new device. If you redownload the app, you would have to do just that. Luckily there is a way to avoid this. You will want to download a software called iExplorer.

Available here: iExplorer – http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/

This will allow you to navigate through your iPhone device and pull out the game data of your apps. Just browse through and look inside the app folder. The save data is usually stored in the documents folder and is a filename titled “something.dat”. Drag this onto your desktop, then connect your other iOS device and navigate to the same app folder and add the file to that folder replacing whatever saved .dat file is there. Now you will have your old data back. Enjoy!
